Omega Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Limited Edition

by Zac Vineyard

The new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Limited Edition looks spectacular. As the iconic character James Bond has continues to capture the attention of pop culture, a similar trend appears in how Omega captures an audience through the James Bond franchise. Starting during the Pierce Brosnan years, Omega continues the formation of their legacy inside the Bond franchise with the release of the new Omega Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Limited Edition. Limited to just 7,007 pieces, this watch celebrates the 50th anniversary of the film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. We're all hoping, however, that the watch makes a cameo on James Bond's wrist in No Time to Die, the upcoming 25th Bond movie release.

Representing the famed gun-barrel seen in the opening scene of each James Bond film, the dial design is laser-etched in a black ceramic.

The features on this watch are unbelievable. The spiral-brushed black ceramic dial will likely go down as one of the most lusted-after designs by Omega. Representing the famed gun-barrel seen in the opening scene of each James Bond film, the dial design is laser-etched in a black ceramic. 18K yellow gold is used for the hands, hour-markers, and Bond family coat-of-arms at 12 o’clock position. On the sapphire crystal caseback you will find the Bond family coat-of-arms metallised in gold and black. On the side of the case, each Limited Edition watch's number is engraved on a screwed-in 18K yellow gold plate.

My favorite feature on this watch isn't the gold hands, the hidden number "50" in a marker lume, or the limited edition. It is the date window—a long overlooked feature on watch dials. The date on this watch looked perfectly integrated with overall design, sporting both a typeface and color that feels refreshing and contemporary.

At the heart of this gorgeous timepiece is the Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8800. With Omega's Co-Axial escapement, this Certified Master Chronometer has a free sprung-balance with silicon balance spring, automatic winding in both directions, and a beautiful rhodium plated finish with Geneva waves.

Dubbed a "mission-ready watch" and "ready for adventure" on the Omega website, I doubt many of these Omega Seamaster Diver 300M James Bond Limited Edition beauties will see action in the field away from collector's boxes. That doesn't mean I wouldn't take it on my next secret mission.
